Saint Paul quotes it when explaining how Gentiles are included in the praise of Israel's God through Christ. Catholic reading finds here a striking anticipation of the Church's universal mission. No nation or language possesses a monopoly on God's mercy. The brevity of the poem is part of its beauty: two themes, love and faithfulness, are enough to summon the entire human family into thanksgiving.
