Its imagery comes from the ordinary family and agricultural world of ancient Israel. Catholics can hear a blessing for married life and family relationships, while remembering that holiness is not measured by whether every household matches the Psalm's imagery. Those who are single, widowed, infertile, or separated from family are no less loved by God. The essential promise is the goodness of living in reverence, gratitude, and solidarity with the community.
