BOOK 5 • PSALMS 107–150 Psalm 107 — Let the Redeemed Give Thanks FORM: Communal thanksgiving | No named author in the Psalm heading Psalm 107 tells several stories of deliverance: travelers lost in the desert, prisoners in darkness, the sick near death, and sailors threatened by storms. The refrain of thanksgiving shows that divine mercy meets different kinds of need. Catholics can see a beautiful spiritual echo of salvation in Christ, who rescues from sin and fear, although the episodes are not individually identified as New Testament prophecies. Jesus calming the storm is a particularly fitting Gospel companion. The Psalm urges the rescued to speak openly of what the Lord has done. Scripture connections: Mark 4, verses 35–41; Colossians 1, verses 13–14 Read Psalm 107 (NABRE) on Bible Gateway
