The language is deeply personal: the worshiper longs to be sheltered under God's wings. Catholic prayer can draw from it both a request for protection and an examination of intentions. We should not confuse a sincere plea for justice with a claim to personal perfection. The Psalm ends with the desire to behold God's face, a hope that Christians can read in the light of the beatific vision: the final happiness of communion with God.
