Human words can wound and deceive; the Lord's promises, by contrast, are pure and dependable. Catholics can hear a summons to honesty in public life, family relationships, and the Church itself. The Psalm also gives voice to those whom exploitation has made voiceless. Christ, the Word made flesh, reveals fully the faithfulness of God, though this Psalm is not a direct prediction of the Incarnation. Truthfulness is an act of love because it honors both neighbor and God.
