Corruption is more than an individual problem; it affects communities and becomes a source of fear. Catholic interpretation hears a reminder that the human family needs redemption, not only better appearances. Saint Paul's use of similar Psalm language underscores the universality of sin and the generosity of justification through Christ. This prayer should produce humility and responsibility, never contempt for those outside one's group. God's saving work answers a need shared by all.
