The Letter to the Hebrews applies words about the king's throne and anointing to Christ, revealing a meaning beyond an ancient court ceremony. Catholic tradition also hears a bridal image of Christ and the Church; Marian and liturgical applications arise from this wider Christian reading and should not be confused with the Psalm's first historical setting. True splendor belongs to a reign founded on righteousness. The wedding imagery reminds believers that the covenant is not merely a contract but a communion of love.
