The recurring question addressed to the downcast soul turns grief into a dialogue with hope. Although Psalm 43 has no author named in its own heading, it is often read together with Psalm 42 as a connected prayer. Catholics can recognize the desire to approach the altar and offer joyful praise, while distinguishing the original Temple setting from the Eucharistic liturgy. It teaches that spiritual disorientation is met by asking God for light and truth rather than simply following fluctuating feelings.
