<description>For the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, Sunday 7pm Choir offers a glorious collection of three classic Ascension hymns that together carry us from the moment Christ is lifted up in glory. We begin with "Hail The Day That Sees Him Rise," Charles Wesley's jubilant 1739 hymn set to the LLANFAIR tune, praising the King of glory ascending to His throne to intercede for us at the Father's right hand. We then sing "Sing We Triumphant Hymns of Praise," the ancient Latin hymn of the Venerable Bede (673–735), translated into English and set to the beloved LASST UNS ERFREUEN tune, exulting in Christ's triumphant ascent above all powers and principalities as proclaimed in Ephesians 1:17–23. We close with "Go Make Of All Disciples," Leon Adkins' setting of the Great Commission from Matthew 28:16–20 — the very Gospel for this Sunday — sending the Church forth to baptize and teach all nations in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with Christ's promise: "I am with you always, until the end of the age." Recorded live by the Sunday 7pm Choir at SFDS Parish, Ajax ON Canada. Thanks for listening and God bless! 🙏🏼 Song Title 1: Hail The Day That Sees Him Rise Artist(s): Text: Charles Wesley, 1739, and Thomas Cotterill, 1820, alt.; Tune: LLANFAIR, Robert Williams, 1817; arr.
