Human applause, social status, violence, and riches are all shown to be unsteady supports. Catholics may pray this Psalm in silence or before the Blessed Sacrament, allowing its repeated confidence to quiet the pressure to control outcomes. The poem's final conviction is that both power and mercy belong to God. True interior freedom begins when the heart stops treating created things as ultimate guarantees. Jesus' warning against serving both God and money echoes its central choice.
