It describes arrogance, greed, and the belief that wrongdoing will never be called to account. Yet the prayer refuses to surrender the poor to their oppressors. In Catholic social teaching, concern for the vulnerable belongs to the demands of justice, not merely to private sentiment. The Psalm invites believers to pray and act for victims while trusting that the Lord sees hidden suffering. Its protest is itself an expression of faith, because the speaker expects God to care.
