Israel's God is not a tribal deity with narrow borders; the nations are summoned into his praise. Christians have traditionally associated the Psalm's ascent imagery with Christ's Ascension and heavenly kingship. Catholics therefore hear an invitation to rejoice in the universality of salvation without denying the Psalm's original worship setting. The same Lord who rules the world calls every nation to worship him, not through coercion but through the revelation of his mercy and truth.
