<description>"Two Were Bound for Emmaus" by Bob Hurd is a deeply beautiful Easter hymn that retells the road to Emmaus story from Luke 24:13–35 — the very Gospel for this Third Sunday of Easter — as two disciples, "disheartened and lost," encounter a stranger on the road who opens the Scriptures to them and is finally recognized in the breaking of bread: "And they knew He was risen in the breaking of bread." Set to Hurd's flowing KENMARE melody with choral arrangement by Craig Kingsbury, the hymn also draws on John 21:1–19, where the risen Lord calls the exhausted fishermen to cast their nets once more and feeds them bread and fish on the shore — and where He entrusts Peter with the care of His flock. Together these scenes invite us to recognize the Risen Lord walking beside us on our own roads of weariness and doubt, in the Word proclaimed, and in the Eucharistic table — to let our hearts burn again at the sound of His voice. Recorded live by the Sunday 7pm Choir at SFDS Parish, Ajax ON Canada. Thanks for listening and God bless! 🙏🏼 Song Title: Two Were Bound for Emmaus Artist(s): Text and Music: Bob Hurd, b. 1950; Tune: KENMARE; Choral Arrangement: Craig Kingsbury Publisher: © 2000, 2001, Bob Hurd.
