Its language of heavenly or earthly 'gods' is unusual, and Jesus refers to it during a dispute about his identity; that quotation must be read in context rather than treated as a simple equation between rulers and Christ. Catholic social teaching finds a clear ethical summons here: defend the weak, the orphan, and the oppressed. Whatever authority people possess, it remains answerable to the one true Judge. The Psalm exposes injustice as a spiritual failure, not merely an administrative error.
