The answer is grateful worship, the cup of salvation, and public fulfillment of vows. Catholics naturally hear Eucharistic resonances in the language of thanksgiving and the cup; the original setting, however, belongs to Israel's sacrificial praise. Saint Paul's teaching that we bless the cup of communion in Christ gives the Christian association special depth. The Psalm is a fitting prayer after recovery, at Mass, or whenever gratitude seeks a form beyond private feeling.
