The images of sheltering wings, abundance, and a fountain of life proclaim that goodness originates in the Lord. Christians hear an especially beautiful resonance with Jesus' promise of living water and his identity as the light of the world. Catholic prayer can use this Psalm to examine how sin distorts our judgment while remaining confident that mercy is greater than our darkness. The life we seek cannot be manufactured by self-sufficiency; it is received from God.
