Creation itself responds to the presence of its Lord. In Catholic typology, the passage through the sea is a major figure of Baptism, because God leads his people out of slavery into freedom. The Psalm is especially meaningful during the Easter season, when the Church remembers the new Exodus accomplished in Christ. It invites awe before a God whose saving action can transform even the obstacles that seem immovable.
