Its concern is not a philosophical argument about unbelief but the consequences of acting as though no divine justice exists. The poor suffer when power loses its moral compass. Saint Paul draws on this Psalm, among other texts, to insist that all people need God's grace rather than boasting of their own righteousness. Catholic reading therefore begins with humility: the corruption we condemn outside ourselves must also be resisted within. The promised salvation calls God's people to renewal and joy.
