The speaker renounces grandiose ambition and compares the soul at rest in God to a weaned child with its mother. Its Davidic heading places it in the royal tradition, yet its tone is gentle and unpretentious. Catholics can pray it against pride, overthinking, and the need to control every event. It does not counsel indifference to truth or responsibility, but a peaceful acknowledgment of creaturely limits. Jesus' welcome of children and his praise of the humble reveal why such trust belongs at the heart of discipleship.
