It celebrates the God exalted above the heavens who nevertheless stoops to raise the poor and needy. Catholics can hear a strong resonance with Mary's Magnificat, which praises the Lord for lifting the humble. Divine greatness is revealed not by neglecting the lowly but by drawing near to them. The Psalm invites worshipers to imitate this pattern through humility and care for those whom society treats as insignificant.
