Psalm 7 is striking because the worshiper also allows his own conduct to be examined. This is not a license to declare oneself innocent of every fault but a reminder that righteous judgment belongs to the Lord. Catholic reading directs anger away from retaliation and toward truth, conscience, and lawful justice. God sees what human observers overlook. The Psalm can be prayed by those who are misrepresented, provided they are willing to let divine judgment illuminate their own hearts as well as the behavior of others.
