Its vivid images of thunder, fire, and divine intervention proclaim that salvation belongs to God. Royal language places the king's safety within the covenant, while Christian tradition sees the victory of God's anointed fulfilled most deeply in Jesus. For Catholics, this is not an invitation to identify personal opponents with God's enemies; it is a call to gratitude for strength received and for grace that sustains faithful perseverance.
